FAQs
Your most common questions - answered! I am here to ensure that the process feels welcoming and not overwhelming, scary, or confusing.
How do I book an appointment?
I do not offer online booking because of the nature of mobile visits in such a wide radius. You can submit the contact form on my website or email me directly sarah@thescarconnection.comWhat areas do you treat for mobile appointments?
I offer mobile appointments in Guelph, Fergus, Kitchener, Waterloo and Cambridge. What if I live outside of your mobile appointment radius but I still want to work with you?
I also offer in-clinic appointments at The WOMB Guelph if you are able to travel for an in-clinic session. You can book online here.Do you do direct billing?
I do not offer direct billing to insurance but you can submit your invoice for reimbursement if you have RMT coverage. How do I pay you?
After your appointment you will receive an email with your invoice and you can pay online with that link, send an e-transfer or pay cash in person. Is it okay if my baby/other children are at home during the mobile treatment?
Absolutely! Seeing little ones is my favourite perk of my job. I come to you to make your life easier so it is definitely fine with me to have your little ones present during your session. And I am extremely flexible if we need to pause the treatment to tend to your little ones' needs.Do I physically need to do anything to prepare for the treatment or do anything after the treatment?
It is always a good idea to be well hydrated before a treatment but that is really the only "prep" you need. I encourage you to wear comfortable, stretchy clothing for the appointment and empty your bladder for comfort during abdominal massage. For your post treatment care, I always encourage you to stay hydrated, rest if possible and do a little bit of gentle movement like walking or light stretching. How many sessions do I need to do?
This varies person to person, but on average I see clients for about 6 sessions, which can be spread out over time. I reassess at each appointment to see if more treatment is needed or if you're clear to discharge. I discharge clients when they reach the point where they basically forget that they have a C-Section scar - they don't notice it during movement or with touch over the area, they have sensation back, and have mobility in their tissue to be able to pick up the scar.Does Scar Tissue Release Therapy hurt?
Treatment with the Dolphin Neurostim device is not necessarily enjoyable like a nice massage but it is well tolerated. There can be some areas that feel more intense like a stinging or tingling sensation in the tissues, but I can stop and move on from that area at any point if you feel too uncomfortable. I have never had a client that couldn't handle a full treatment. Even those that were extremely nervous to have their scar touched will comment on how it wasn't as scary as they thought, and feel a lot of relief after. Will this help to fade my scar?
I cannot guarantee results but I have seen virtually all of my clients fade and soften the appearance of their scars from these treatments. When is it safe to begin treatment after a C-Section?
The microcurrent of the Dolphin Neurostim is safe and gentle enough to be used at any stage post Cesarean. In fact, it can help to reduce pain, swelling and increase cellular healing. The earliest I have worked with a client has been 2 weeks post Cesarean. But whenever you are comfortable to begin treatments is what I suggest. I do not do any hands on massage until you have had your 6-week medical clearance. Is it too late to treat my C-Section scar?
It is never too late to release scar tissue! In fact, the longer you've gone without treating your scar tissue, the longer it's had to tighten and cause issues. I have worked on scars that are decades old and still seen results with softening and loosening of the scar tissue. How can I contact you if I have further questions or want to discuss potential treatments?
